Philips TrueForce LED Public (City/Road – HPL/SON)
The Philips TrueForce LED Public (City/Road – HPL/SON) was developed to provide an energy-efficient replacement for conventional HPL and SON lamps in existing streetlight fixtures. The series combines a familiar HID lamp design with modern LED technology. This allows existing lighting systems to be modernized without necessarily having to replace the entire fixture.
In addition, the current TrueForce lamps can be used with compatible electromagnetic ballasts or directly connected to line voltage. This makes the series highly versatile for professional retrofit projects.
For HPL and SON replacement
The current TrueForce series consists of three power classes. This makes it possible to select a suitable LED replacement for various existing HID lamps.
- 21W – Replaces HPL 50W or SON 50W
- 28W – Replaces an 80W HPL or a 70W SON
- 42W – Replaces HPL 125W or SON 70W
As a result, power consumption is significantly reduced, while the existing light distribution is maintained as much as possible.
2,850 to 6,000 lumens
Depending on power and color temperature, the current series ranges from 2,850 and 6,000 lumens.
- 21W – 2,850 lumens at 3,000K or 3,000 lumens at 4,000K
- 28W – 3,800 lumens at 3,000K or 4,000 lumens at 4,000K
- 42W – 5,700 lumens at 3,000K or 6,000 lumens at 4,000K
The 4000K models each provide slightly more light than the corresponding 3000K version.
3000K and 4000K
Philips offers the current TrueForce LED Public series in two color temperatures. This allows the light color to be tailored to the environment.
- 3000K – warm white
- 4000K – neutral white
All current models feature a color display of CRI 80. This produces a pleasant white light with good color rendering.
E27 and E40
The 21W and 28W models use a E27 lamp base. The 42W series is available with both E27 as E40.
As a result, the product family can be used in various existing HPL and SON fixtures.
EM ballast or direct line voltage
A key advantage of this TrueForce series is its compatibility with EM ballasts and direct line voltage. As a result, for many existing installations, it is possible to choose the most suitable retrofit method.
When used with an existing HID system, compatibility and wiring must always be verified in accordance with Signify’s current installation instructions. Any ignitors must not be left in the circuit without being checked.
Up to 142 lm/W
The 3000K models reach approximately 135 lm/W. The current 4000K models reach approximately 142 lm/W.
For example, the 42W / 4000K model delivers 6,000 lumens with a power consumption of just 42W.
360° light distribution
All current models feature a wide beam pattern of 360 degrees. As a result, light is emitted in all directions around the lamp.
This allows the existing reflector and optics of suitable streetlight fixtures to be used effectively.
IP65
The TrueForce LED Public lamps have a IP65 rating. This protects the light source from dust and water jets.
For outdoor applications, the fitting or lamp holder used must also provide adequate IP protection. The lamp’s IP65 rating does not automatically make the entire fixture IP65-rated.
Not dimmable
All current variants within this product family are not dimmable. As a result, Dimbaar has established itself as a staple on No be set.
50,000-hour service life
Signify specifies a rated service life of 50,000 hours. In addition, the lamps are designed for 50,000 on-off cycles.
As a result, maintenance and bulb replacement are significantly reduced compared to traditional HID lighting.
Protection against switching spikes
The current Signify family specifies 4 kV surge protection. As a result, the lamp is more resistant to electrical voltage spikes in professional installations.
8-year warranty
Signify currently lists a 8-year warranty period. This clearly sets the MASTER-tier TrueForce series apart from the less expensive Core and CorePro retrofit series.
