CityCharm Cone BDS491

The Cone model within the CityCharm family has the product family code BDS491. In addition to CityCharm Cone, the family includes CityCharm Cordoba and CityCharm Fluid, among others.

The various designs make it possible to choose a suitable style for different urban areas within the same family of luminaires.

GentleBeam and ClearGuide

Philips CityCharm was developed using technologies that enhance visual comfort and light distribution in urban environments.

GentleBeam is designed to provide maximum visual comfort, while ClearGuide was developed to improve vertical lighting and visual orientation in public spaces.

This makes it possible to focus not only on providing adequate horizontal lighting but also on the recognition of people, objects, and the surroundings.

Different color temperatures

The CityCharm family offers a variety of color temperatures for a wide range of urban applications:

  • 2200 K: very warm light for atmospheric urban settings
  • 2700 K: Warm white light for residential areas, parks, and historic settings
  • 3000 K: Warm white light for comfortable public lighting
  • 4,000 K: neutral white light for functional urban applications

The available color temperature and color rendering depend on the selected CityCharm Cone configuration.

Efficiency up to 144 lm/W

The current CityCharm family offers a light output of up to approximately 144 lumens per watt, depending on the configuration selected. This allows for high light output combined with energy efficiency.

The exact efficiency depends on factors such as the LED package, color temperature, optics, and the selected control technology.

Different light distributions

For urban and street lighting, good light distribution is just as important as the total light output. That is why CityCharm Cone is available with various optics for a wide range of public spaces.

Depending on the model, options include symmetrical and medium-width light distributions. This allows the light to be precisely tailored to locations such as plazas, walking paths, bike paths, and residential streets.

IP66 and IK10

Current CityCharm Cone BDS491 models are available with a protection rating of IP66. This means the fixture is fully protected against dust intrusion and resistant to powerful water jets.

In addition, selected current models have an impact resistance of IK10, making the fixture suitable for use in public outdoor spaces where durability is important.

Long service life

Philips states that the current CityCharm line has a service life of up to 100,000 hours at L96 B10. This means that CityCharm is designed for long-term professional use while maintaining a high level of its original light output.

Its long service life helps minimize the number of maintenance intervals and replacements over its useful life.

System Ready and Signify Interact

CityCharm is future-proof and available with a Zhaga-D4i System Ready Connector. This allows the fixture to be prepared for smart controllers and connected lighting.

When used in combination with compatible Philips Interact solutions, public lighting can be managed remotely, and features such as monitoring, dimming schedules, and other smart lighting functions can be implemented.

Constant Light Output

Selected CityCharm Cone models feature Constant Light Output. This allows the driver to account for the natural decline in LED light output over the life of the fixture.

This helps maintain the desired lighting level consistently over a longer period of use without causing the fixture to operate at an unnecessarily high level from the start.

Service Tag for Maintenance

CityCharm supports Philips ServiceTag for easy identification, installation, and maintenance. This allows relevant luminaire data to be quickly accessed during service work.

This is particularly interesting for municipalities, facility managers, and installers who manage larger public lighting systems.

5-year standard warranty

Signify lists a for the current CityCharm family 5-year standard warranty, with the option to extend it, subject to certain conditions, to a maximum of 10 years.
